As the days grow shorter, the nights longer, and the temperatures drop, caching has become a bit of a challenge.  I guess it's a good thing Geocachers love challenges (and trackables)!  Through bitter cold rains, sleet, snow and plunging cold temperatures, we just throw on a few more layers and pull out a few tools of the trade to help out.  I love seeing the pictures of cachers wearing skis, snowshoes, and heavy winter boots smiling as they traverse the trails to their next find.  

One of the constant challenges of cold weather caching though is regulating temperature and getting your favorite TOTT out of your swagbags.  For the Geocoin Club January Functional this year, I wanted to make those tasks just a little bit easier.  A Zipper Pull gives you the extra grip-space you need in your heavy winter gloves or mittens to keep maneuvering those zippers while you're on the hunt.  As soon as you're moving down the trail, you're heating up and have to adjust your coat zippers down to let off the excess heat.  As soon as you slow down near ground zero, you're suddenly cooling off and need to zip back up.  When you finally make the find, you're trying to open your swagbag for a pen to sign the log or a bit of treasure to add to the cache and once again, you're trying to work a tiny zipper without taking your gloves off and freezing your hands.

A Zipper Pull is a great solution for winter caching.  With a quick clip onto your zipper, you have a uniquely shaped trackable that gives you just the right amount of grip size to easily manipulate your zippers even in bulky mittens.  With a clean and classic look, these geocoins look great on your jackets and bags and are a great way to share Discovers with like-minded cachers you'll meet out on the winter trail.  So grab yours, clip it on, activate it and hit the trail.  There's caches out there to find and we're doing our part to make it easier for you, too.  Safe trails and happy caching!
