November 2017 - Fête Ghede
This may appear to be a Halloween coin but we made it our November design on purpose. Fête Ghede is the Voodoo celebration of the dead where Baron Samedi and Maman Brigitte, the head of the Guédé family of Loa, a sort of Pantheon of Gods to the big guy himself. Voodoo is a mix of religions both Catholic and old African. The leader of their Pantheon is African, his counterpart is an Irish woman. Fête Ghede is celebrated on 2 November, All Souls' Day ("Festival of the Dead"). Boons granted by the Ghede not repaid by this date will be avenged afterwards. This is a Chris Mackey design.
