October 2018 - Spooktacular Caching

Design notes from Chris:  It's been quite a while since I've had the pure childish pleasure of designing a coin aimed for others like myself who are young at heart and enraptured by all things "Halloweeny" (yes, that's a word, because you know exactly what I mean! lol).  I usually get wrapped up in all the deep aspects of an idea, but this time I looked at caching during the exciting and spookiest caching days of the year through the eyes of a child.  Witches and goblins, spiders and bats, black cats crossing our paths and ravens calling out in excitement over the death of a tasty morsel are all iconic images of Halloween and those days close before and after.  What will you be searching for on these shortening days and lengthening nights?  Mysterious caches and ghostly specters of cache types long laid to rest are waiting.  Cache series concocted in the laborious minds of evil scientists are out there.  Night caching with the frantic flutter of bats overhead and grasping trees reaching for you in the dark are waiting just down the trail.   It's time to face our fears and scramble for those caches before the days turn short, the sleep of winter's death settles in and the caching season slows.  Happy Halloween and safe caching to all you brave souls willing to get out there and face the denizens of the dark as their nightly reign grows longer!
