Why Passwords? From time to time we or people we sell for will want to reserve the purchase of a coin for only certain people. We do this by password protecting the item for a period of time. This enables the owner, seller, or us to provide early access to a sale for members only, VIPs, reservation lists, etc. When an item is password protected, it typically states on the item's page when the password will be removed. We do not supply passwords by request, you must have received the password through a direct notice to participate in a password protected sale.

December 2020 - Take A Hike

Design notes from the artist:  Chris Mackey

I've been asked numerous times over the years "What's your favorite part of geocaching?"  I've always responded, "It's the people."  There's something almost magical about the community in their generosity.  I think it stems from what it takes to be a geocacher... the willingness to go out and work hard, travel countless miles and spend endless hours to set and maintain caches for others.  The reward for all this effort?...  a simple thank you.   Who would go to so much effort for little or nothing in return?  It's the people.  They're the gift of geocaching that keep on giving day after day, year after year.

For this year's holiday coin, I wanted to remind people that despite all the negativity that has plagued this year, there has also been tremendous generosity, support and encouragement from the community toward one another.   On the face side of this coin is the present I look forward to every year... the gift of time well spent during the holiday break to go hunting for caches that have been generously provided by the community.  The time spent with my family and friends hiking and hunting for these caches is an incredible reward that brings joy to us all.  Whether you attend a virtual event, solve a mystery, star on a virtual cache web-feed or just hunt down that elusive container out on the trail, caching is truly a remarkable gift.

On the reverse side of the coin, in the spirit of recognizing generosity during the holidays, I decided to share some recognition for someone who doesn't always get much credit.  We all know at least some of the names like Father Christmas, St. Nick, Santa Claus, Ded Moroz or Grandfather Frost.  We've even heard of Mrs. Claus and those helpful elves.  Fewer remember Snegurochka, Snegurka, Daughter of Snows or the Frost Maiden, the adopted granddaughter who helps that Jolly Old Elf in preparing for the celebration at year's end and the turning of the seasons.  A generous soul full of holiday spirit who delights in decorating the fir trees while wearing her snowflake inspired crown.  The birds chatter excitedly in her presence as she weaves her graces beautiful frost here, there and everywhere to bring beauty and delight to souls during the coldest season.

It's easy to enjoy the caches we find and the memories we delight in from our adventures, but in this season of giving, let's remember to thank those who make that possible.  Maybe this coin will find its way into the hands of one of those generous souls who provide so much for us.  Maybe it will find its way to you!  Thank you to everyone out there placing caches, hosting events, cleaning up at CITOs and hosting events.  YOU are the geocaching gift that keeps on giving and we're so thankful!
